Planning Award

LSIB 10 year visionOn July 12th, 2011, the Canadian Institute of Planners honoured a monumental community effort launched by Liard First Nation and driven under the project leadership of the Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society.  “Can You Hear the Drum Beat?  Our 10 Year Vision for Health and Healing” is a comprehensive, regional plan that involved the collaboration of five communities of the Kaska Nation and non-First Nations individuals from multi-levels of government, industry agencies, non-government organizations and concerned citizens to address the pressing issue of health and healing in their communities. The Canadian Institute of Planners  presented an Award for Planning Excellence in the category of “Planning for and Development of Aboriginal Communities” at their 2011 Conference in St. John’s Newfoundland.
