Fort McMurray FN

Fort McMurray 468 First Nation Waterways Planning

Beringia is supporting Fort McMurray 468 First Nation (FM468FN) with developing a Water Management Plan for the confluence of the Athabasca, Clearwater and Christina Rivers. As part of Phase 1, Beringia is conducting research and analysis, facilitating knowledge keeper engagement, providing a preliminary waterway assessment, and supporting community readiness by establishing the water management planning process.

Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society – Youth for Safety Project Evaluation

The Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society (LAWS) Tsʼídāne ā́ʼ nezen?: Youth for Dignity (YFD) program is a five-year youth empowerment project designed address gender-based violence in the form of teen/youth dating violence, and foster community safety and justice in the town of Watson Lake, Yukon. Beringia is supporting the Intervention and Research of YFD by collecting quantitative and qualitative data to shine a light on the impacts, outcomes, strengths, challenges, and opportunities of the program – and overall – tell the story of change.

Needs Assessment – Violence Prevention Needs and Asset Assessment Report

Location: Yukon

In May 2019, LAWS was awarded funding for an advocacy-focused project aiming to address gender-based and relationship violence in Watson Lake, Yukon and surrounding areas by training a team of community Advocates to become anti-violence leaders in their communities. As part of the planning phase of the project, LAWS worked with Beringia to conduct a needs and asset assessment.

First Peoples’ Cultural Council – Monitoring and Evaluation Plan

Location: British Columbia

Beringia supported the First Peoples’ Cultural Council (FPCC) Project Team in expanding their Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system. Beringia conducted background research and two workshops with FPCC staff, followed by 19 individual meetings with FPCC staff members and Advisors which involved voting and ranking preferred principles, core directions, strategies and actions to guide M&E processes and implementation within the FPCC.

First Nations Health Authority – Knowledge Gathering Guide

Location: British Columbia

This project aimed to create a knowledge gathering guide (KGG) designed for Indigenous communities in BC who were interested in carrying out research activities in their communities. Beringia’s collaborative, respectful and rigorous approach involved ongoing meetings with the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) team, undertaking a literature review, completing key informant interviews, delivering an email survey, evaluating resources, and then compiling results to inform an outline and framework for a KGG, along with a supporting set of recommendations.
