Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society Selected for Google.org Impact Challenge for Women and Girls Funding

In March 2021, Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society (LAWS) applied to the Google.org Impact Challenge for Women and Girls, an open call to organizations working on projects that create economic opportunities for women and girls. We are thrilled to announce that LAWS was selected from a pool of 7,800 applications to receive funding and additional support from Google.org.

With this funding, LAWS will be creating the Centre for Indigenous Women in Leadership to vastly improve services and support for Indigenous women. Through culturally informed training and mentorship, the Centre will strengthen access to safe, culturally appropriate practices that enable Indigenous women to recover from violence, realize their economic potential and improve their quality of life.

Beringia looks forward to supporting LAWS with this exciting Leadership Centre.
